How long does it take to produce my book?
Printing/binding will take from 5 to 10 business days after you approve the final print proofs created from your Word file.
What does PUP need to produce my book?
PUP needs two files: i) A Word (rtf) file of your manuscript, and (ii) one or more files of the components of the cover. With these files PUP will do the layout of the book itself and of the cover*. You will proofread and approve (or modify) these printouts before the production can begin.
What is the minimum print run for my book?
Theoretically there is no minimum. You can order one or two copies, but the unit price will be (relatively) exhorbitant. In practical terms the minimum is 50 copies. If you need 73 copies, for example, this too can be costed out and you decide in the light of the figure for 73 in the cost estimate.
Does PUP accept books which are co-authored?
Certainly. This formula often proves very advantageous for both the authors and the end-users (students, etc.). PUP does require that one of the authors be specifically designated as the approving authority for the final OK for publishing.
How do I estimate the number of pages in my book?
To determine the page count, simply send us the first chapter, or first 10 pages of your manuscript for an initial layout. From that we can do a tentative layout and extrapolate from it to come up with a fairly accurate figure for the total page count. That figure is used to prepare the cost estimate.
